Cheese from the regions of Alsatian (Vosges) and Lorraine, created in the VII century by
Benedictine monks in Vosgian abbeys and monasteries.
Made from unpasteurized (raw) cow´s milk, the crust must be washed regularly, and acquires a
shiny brick-colored or orange rind as it matures. A semi soft body, a very strong and
penetrating odor with a very strong taste. The cheese is also known as “creamy muenster” in
the United States.
